Petey’s Perspective on Thanksgiving

Hey friends! Remind your pet parents to be thankful for the opportunity to have you as part of their life and family.  We give unconditional love and are always waiting for them to come home ready to give warm wet kisses.  We are always ready to go on a walk or cuddle up in their laps for hugs leaving behind just a few hairs in their laps and on their furniture. Let them know we are always willing to listen to them without judging and can make them laugh throughout the day.  When the floor is messy from crumbs or spills, we are always willing to help clean up!

As you know our pet parents love to feast and overindulge during Thanksgiving which is really unhealthy for them, but can be even worse for us if were to participate as well. So friends……….avoid these Thanksgiving hazards.

  1. Fatty foods which are difficult to digest and can cause pancreatitis
  2. Poultry bones that can damage our intestinal tract
  3. Holiday sweets like chocolate that can be toxic, and desserts or candy containing the artificial sweetener xylitol that can be deadly
  4. Yeast dough that will make our tummy ache and can cause bloat
  5. Stay out of the trash which may contain these foods or other hazards
  6. Stay away from holiday candles, ornamental corn cobs and decorative plastic or fabric leaves

If you are traveling somewhere for the holiday, don’t forget the following:

  1. Your own pet food, medication, medical records and wear your collar with your current ID attached in case you get separated from your owner. Also, be sure to get a health certificate from your veterinarian if needed.  Be sure to stay in your crate when traveling.

Remind your pet parents that house guests sometimes can cause us emotional stress. If our anxiety gets out of control, we might bolt for the nearest open door to escape all the noise and chaos.  This is another reason to wear your collar with a current ID.

ENJOY THE HOLIDAY AND STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!!!!!

Your pal,

Petey
